Update on health, well-being, clinical trial start date, and other things

The past few weeks have been a little different. She has really been starting to feel the pressure of the tumors in her liver pressing on things. It causes constant discomfort. She said it is not painful, just very uncomfortable all the time. She can only eat maybe 25% of what was a normal amount for her originally because she feels full all of the time. With that said, she has lost a few pounds (maybe 5 or 6 over the past month) but it is nothing drastic. She tries to eat several really small meals throughout the day.

Her energy levels have been pretty low as well. Maybe a handful of small walks over the past month (but then again, it has been really hot outside too). She does whatever in and around the house, and she has got her garden going pretty good. She has been bringing in a "little haul" of fresh vegetables every day. A lot of couch time with mongie.

Late last week, she started having a little more fatigue and some sporadic nausea started. The pressure in her abdomen also was a little more. She then began to run a fever. We talked to Dr. Paluri and monitored it over the weekend. We went to the hospital on Monday (July 11) and they ran a bunch of tests. The only thing that was conclusive in the results was that her liver enzymes were elevated. This is where it starts getting out of my wheelhouse so I will keep this as brief as possible.
The elevated liver enzymes could mean several different things, but from what I gathered talking to the doc, what we really need in order to be definitive are new CT Scans. The CTs was originally scheduled for next Wednesday, but they moved that up to next Monday (July 18), so we will have some answers then, given (and hoping) that nothing drastic happens between now and then that would require admittance.

He put in a script for some broad spectrum antibiotics, in hopes that it is some sort of infection (given the fever) and that it could be gotten under control with them. Obviously it would be good if they worked because it would make her feel better, but the other reason is because on the Monday she gets scanned, they are also taking blood for several qualifying tests for the clinical trial. So there is a chance that one of those tests disqualifies her from the trial if her results are not in whatever the range is for qualification. Hopefully she gets to feeling better, her trial tests all go thru fine, and the AMG199 works for her. If she gets disqualified, then she was not meant to receive that phase 1 drug and the Lord knows what he is doing. Speaking of the clinical trial, the start date got moved again.. it is back to August 1st.

She did not sleep very good last night. She was up several times with nausea. This was the first night that it happened somewhat regularly thru the night. This morning I talked to Dr. Paluri and he got her a script for some anti-nausea medicine. It should eliminate the nausea so she can sleep thru the night tonight and moving forward.

She is taking the antibiotics, and the nausea medicine. Hope and pray that it helps her get to feeling better. She has had a tough go the past few days. A lot of sleep throughout the day.

Please if anyone wants to ask any questions or wants to check on her, send me a text instead of her.
She is the common denominator here, and she needs her rest.
My cell number is (336)554-0555.

Thanks for all the thoughts, prayers, cards, etc..
