Liver Surgery - Post Op - Day 4 - Home!!

This morning Christian was feeling better than the day before and ready to go home.
Dr. Clark came around and said she looked good and was going home today. He said the incision looked great as well.

We waited around for them to get the discharge orders and everything put together (which usually doesn't happen super fast). Meanwhile we got all of her stuff packed up from her room. 

They put a new dressing on her incision and went over a few things. Then we were able to get out of there a little after 2pm.

They said they were going to call for Transport to come get her, and Christian asked if we had to use Transport, or if we could just leave on our own. The nurse said we could leave on our own if we wanted and that she would go get a wheelchair. Christian said she felt good enough to walk. The nurse said that was fine if she felt good. So I carried the bag, and she walked, and we got out of there!!

When we got home, I don't know which one of them was more excited to see the other..


She began getting her appetite back a little bit, so we ordered Elizabeth's Pizza for dinner, and had some Fettucine Alfredo, Baked Cheese Ravioli, and Garlic Knots. She ate a little of everything. 
She is so happy to be home for so many reasons. She is on the comfortable couch watching some TV about to doze off it looks like. She is still pretty tired, but so thankful to be comfortable and home.

It has been a good day.

This is the very hardest one to write. I have written so much on this blog over the past year and a half, just trying to share information with everyone, but now this “cancer story” is coming to a close.    Her story will never come to a close for me. This is not how our story ends. I know her family feels the same way. There was no one like her on this planet, and there never will be. She was a one of a kind, and the love of my life. She was the best person I ever met, and I look forward to seeing her again one day, up in heaven.   Now I will sit in this empty house that she decorated so well, but I am not alone. God is with me, she is still with me in my heart, and I still have our little terrorist of a dog running around here somewhere, so maybe it won’t be too bad.   I knew this was coming for a while, and I have said a few times that I felt like I was prepared, but nothing can prepare you for it, when you realize they are gone and won’t be coming back. 12 years is not enough.   W

The past week, test & scan Results, preparing for what is next..

It has been almost a week since the last update here. She has had a difficult time, and has shown more signs of decline. There has been high fever every night, very low energy, nausea, abdominal pain, a lot of sleep and no appetite. She took all of the antibiotics that she was prescribed but it did not really change anything. The nausea med (Zofran) has definitely helped, and she has not gotten sick anymore since taking it. We are very thankful for that. We are staying on an 8hr interval with it to stay that way. Since the last post she has also began to have some pretty intense pain in her abdomen. We were no longer able to control it with the natural remedies we have been using, that have worked for the previous month or two. We got a script for some pain medicine. She is taking it on the same 8hr interval as the Zofran and it is managing the pain very well. So pain & nausea are under control for now.
