Chemo Treatment 3 - Day 7

 It is Monday June 7, 2021.

She is starting to get back to normal. Last week was rough on her. Thru the weekend she has started to gain some of her strength and energy back. 

Saturday we just kind of hung around the house. That evening we had Jen, Steven, & Annabell over for a few burgers. After eating, they took the dogs for a short walk in the neighborhood. 

Sunday I was outside washing the boat for a few hours. She helped me some and hung out outside listening to the music while I was cleaning. She did some cleaning around the house and we got Mexican for dinner.

I would say between yesterday and today she is about back to normal. So hopefully this week will be a good recovery week for her to enjoy before the next treatment. 

We are realizing that each treatment is making the side effects "build" and be more severe than the previous one. With that said, I am fairly certain she will be wiped out the week of the 14th (her 4th treatment). The upside for that week is that we get the MRI (18th) and CT Scan (21st) and meet with Dr. Paluri (21st) to see how everything is responding. We are very hopeful for positive news on that front.

Just wanted to give a brief update here. Unless some other side effects present, or something else happens, I don't really expect to have anything to write about until her next treatment (Monday June 14).

This is the very hardest one to write. I have written so much on this blog over the past year and a half, just trying to share information with everyone, but now this “cancer story” is coming to a close.    Her story will never come to a close for me. This is not how our story ends. I know her family feels the same way. There was no one like her on this planet, and there never will be. She was a one of a kind, and the love of my life. She was the best person I ever met, and I look forward to seeing her again one day, up in heaven.   Now I will sit in this empty house that she decorated so well, but I am not alone. God is with me, she is still with me in my heart, and I still have our little terrorist of a dog running around here somewhere, so maybe it won’t be too bad.   I knew this was coming for a while, and I have said a few times that I felt like I was prepared, but nothing can prepare you for it, when you realize they are gone and won’t be coming back. 12 years is not enough.   W

The past week, test & scan Results, preparing for what is next..

It has been almost a week since the last update here. She has had a difficult time, and has shown more signs of decline. There has been high fever every night, very low energy, nausea, abdominal pain, a lot of sleep and no appetite. She took all of the antibiotics that she was prescribed but it did not really change anything. The nausea med (Zofran) has definitely helped, and she has not gotten sick anymore since taking it. We are very thankful for that. We are staying on an 8hr interval with it to stay that way. Since the last post she has also began to have some pretty intense pain in her abdomen. We were no longer able to control it with the natural remedies we have been using, that have worked for the previous month or two. We got a script for some pain medicine. She is taking it on the same 8hr interval as the Zofran and it is managing the pain very well. So pain & nausea are under control for now.
