Chemo Treatment 4 - Day 1
Yesterday was Christian's 4th treatment.
Instead of taking her myself, I asked her sister Jen if she wanted to take her for a treatment, to see how involved it is, and to get the experience for herself.
There are a lot of moving parts to it in-between check-in and check-out.
She said yes, so they spent the day together at the hospital. It is an all day event.
With that said, I asked Jen if she would like to put together a little story to add here, like I usually do.
Jen's Story:
***“You must be sisters!” = The theme of the day! Hi, I am new here and my name is Jen. I have the honor and privilege of being Christian’s younger sister. Even though, no one can ever tell who is the oldest….totally good for her. ☺️
Yesterday I had the opportunity to take Christian to her chemo treatment and thoroughly appreciate the knowledge and insight that the day offered. Although the day was a bit delayed and took us through a late afternoon experience, it went very well!
The highlight of the day included a visit from many of her precious coworkers, who clearly love and adore her. It was such a blessing to have so many folks in the room rallying around her!
We asked a few questions of her oncologist including: specifics on upcoming scans and what to expect for potential surgery as well as continued treatment after surgery. With the anticipation of her MRI and CT scan coming up over the next week, we ask for prayers that the treatment is working. They are anticipating there will be eight more rounds of chemo in total. Whether there will be a few more cycles before surgery or not is yet to be decided. The good info is, that the chemo following surgery could potentially have one less drug than the current regiment, so this gives hope that they may not be as bad.
She is such a trooper and a strong individual, her spirits were great yesterday and continue to be so. Her stats and weight are great and she is kicking cancers booty! Thanks for reading!"***
Here are a few pics they got of some co-workers that stopped by:
Upcoming:
Christian is going to get a new MRI Scan this coming Friday (June 18), and a CT Scan on Monday (June 21). They will be comparing those images to the original images they did before her first treatment. We are hoping to see that the tumors in her liver have shrunk (they are responding to the chemo).
Monday (June 21) after the CT Scan, we have a meeting with Dr. Paluri to discuss: the image comparison, what the chemo response looks like, and what the path forward is.
I am not going to get into all of the possibilities for the path forward right now.
We just need to see what the scan results are, and how the meeting on Monday goes, and go from there.
Of course I will keep everyone updated with important info on here as we get it.
Thanks for all the thoughts, prayers, donations, gifts, and everything else I can't think of.
